In 2019, Ruben obtained his Bachelor degree in Chemistry at the University of Bonn. He developed his curiosity for supramolecular chemistry during his Bachelor thesis in the group of Prof. Lützen working on incorporating new fluorophores into ligands for metallo-supramolecular cages. Following this interest, he joined Larissa’s group for his Master's thesis to investigate photoswitchable ligands for rare earth metal cations. Since 2021, he has been continuing his work as a PhD student.
Besides his PhD studies, he is an active member of the German Young Chemist Network (GDCh) which aims to bring chemists of all ages all together. To relax, he loves to read books from Malcom Gladwell and to hit the gym.
