AC Kolloquium - Dr. Moritz Malischewski
When Organometallic and Fluorine meet…
The incorporation of fluorine substituents into organic ligands can lead to unique properties when coordinated to a metal centre. For example, the reduced donor ability of the perfluorinated Cp* ligand [C5(CF3)5]- leads to an unprecedented substitution lability of its metal complexes.
The use of experimental techniques from inorganic fluorine chemistry (working with superacids or very powerful oxidizing agents) allows the isolation of highly reactive organometallic compounds with fascinating structures that are otherwise inaccessible.
