The precision mechanics cluster in Endenich consists of the two workshops located in the Institutes of Chemistry and the Pharmaceutical Institute. There are currently 4 employees working here. About 20 stationary machines are available to the employees. The equipment consists of lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, saws (bow, band, circular saw), sheet metal processing (hydraulic press bank, hydraulic guillotine), welding equipment and small machines.
The task of the workshops is to convert scientific ideas into technical solutions. This happens in close cooperation between scientists and workshop staff. This often requires special knowledge of the materials to be processed. Other key areas of work are vacuum technology and the repair of rotary vacuum and membrane vacuum pumps. There is a hazardous area specially set up for this purpose, in which the pumps are repaired in compliance with the current safety regulations.
A joint order and billing system is used in the precision mechanics cluster in Endenich. All orders are recorded and billed with a special software.
